Who
Gartoo is an initiative by Lokku Labs, a platform of Lokku Limited. We are better known for managing Nestoria, a successful property search engine in Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Brazil, Australia and India.
When
Gartoo UK was launched in August 2009 along with Gartoo Italia and Gartoo España.
Why
We think that search is an ever challenging technology. We originally conceived Gartoo as an experimental web site to allow home hunters perform very specific queries to a database of properties. We are testing full text search and many other techniques. So far we get decent results for the most frequent property queries. We use Sphinx, the free open-source SQL full-text search engine and lots of coding in Perl. We have the ambition of turning Gartoo into a test bed of ideas to apply to other projects of Lokku Limited.
How
We invest significant resources to improve both our database of properties and our interpretation of your queries. We learn more from mistakes, so we are particularly interested in your opinion or your reports of searches that can be improved.
